It looks like a great place to have been as a child. I like the boat, a lot, it kind of looks like a viking ship, as a kid I would have had great fun with that. For sailing adventures I had to tie oiece of sheet to a couple of sticks and put them in the ground. Not much water where I grew up.
All swedish cities and villiges are built around water, by the sea, a lake or a river.Maybe a few aren´t. The water in the pictures is a river that has been damed (?) for a power plant and has become more like a lake. This kind of boat is called "eka" in swedish if you want to impress your scandinavian freinds :-) and is mostly made of wood bur this one is made of glass fiber (?)
I grew up in Billings, Montana. On the banks of the Yellowstone river, yes it does come down out of Yellowstone park. But we did not do boating. There were a few Dams, (dammed), an hour or two away, but we didn't go there often, and didn't have a boat when we went. As a "Boy scout" we did collect old car tires to recycle into fiberglass for canoes, but I never was around for the final product, i.e. an actual canoe. Later in my life, maybe 16/17 years old I did get to go out in a boat. I did not like it. I still don't trust boats. Being on the water makes me very nervous.
Montana makes me think of old western movies, europeans look at america as it´s shown in movies from Hollywood. I´ve never been to NYC but I can tell you what it looks like. Growing ut at that coust of the Baltic sea you can´t avoid being on a boat. And the ferries to Finland were legendary when I grew up.

SvaraRaderaSå här pratar man i Ångermanland, min barndoms dialekt
It looks like a great market Ulf. And the summer place on the lake looks quite serene.
SvaraRaderaMy grandparents use to live there and I spent all my summer in Backe as a child, so it´s a bit like memory lane to me.

The old western movies were not the Montana I grew up in, think more "Brokeback Mountain" movie.
SvaraRaderaThat was a very thoughtful movie, and you must have a very interesting up bringing in that case.
